Safety is something that should be highly consider in the classroom. It is so crucial for teacher to be trained to know how they should apply safety in their classroom. When doing experiments, students can be exposed to different substances that they are not used to. The teachers should know how to educate the students of what safety precautions to take. I think it a great idea to have to the teacher do survey to know how much they know and what they need to work on. The article does a great job in collecting and displays those data to help better understand the concepts.

This article refers to two separate studies that exposed inadequate understandings of legal and professional obligations by administrators and teachers on how to have safe facilities and practices in place when teaching science. NSTA conducted an online survey in 2000 with eye-opening results. A summary of the data is shared in this article. There are so many things to consider so that a safe learning environment is available in which to teach science. The article discusses how a school/district safety audit is one way to help teachers and administrators determine whether they are within the law. This is an excellent article for outlining many of the elements that need to be considered in order for teachers and administrators to provide safe learning environments for their science students.
