The author describes the steps taken to provide a multi-day science trip to all the science students in her grade. She provides a general outline of her trip to provide an example of how others might also design a trip. While we cannot all take our students to Yellowstone as conveniently as the author (I wish!) the point she makes about how local areas of interest may be totally new and unfamiliar to our students is a good point - there are generally all kinds of features and science related sites near all of us that we assume our students are familiar with and yet they may not have even heard of, let alone visited. This article could be used by teachers at any grade level. And I know this author is not alone in her ideas about the importance of science trips - my high school did something similar that I then later helped with as an adult and it meant a great deal to me in my choice of career!
