Although this article dates from 1999 and it focuses on a specific building set, the strategies set forth and the methods shared are easily adapted to a STEM activity for middle school students. Teachers may even use toothpicks and small marshmallows or straws and small jellies (or even homemade play dough) to substitute for the K’NEX building set.
