The process described by the authors seems to be a good way to get students to think rationally instead of emotionally about issues to develop a well balanced decision. The ONLY problem I have with the article (but this is a rather large one) is the lack of references on assessment and examples of other lessons similar to this to help teach students the process. The reason for this lack is the age of the article. There were apparently references at one time at the Science Teacher website which are no longer active. Should those references be reinstalled I would definitely give this article a big 5 because it is essential for us to teach students how to critically examine issues and science is a good subject to do that in - with all the environmental issues in our future, students need the practice. Overall, what is provided in the article seems to be a good starting point to build on, but I would really like to have seen examples of how to get students to the point where they work c
