This article starts out with a discussion of Cinderella having to clean up the mixture of lentils and ash that her wicked stepmother created so Cinderella could not go to the ball. Students brainstormed ways of doing this and tried out their ideas. This led to a more difficult task of separating four things in a mixture. The author gives several ways of presenting this activity to the students.
