What better way to bring students “down to earth” than by studying worms? Worms are inexpensive creatures that can be used to create rich science experiences that relate to the National Science Education Standards. This article describes a successful unit that integrates subjects and involves students in an inquiry-based investigation of these easily accessible creatures. The success of this unit showed once again that if teachers (and student teachers) find something children are truly interested in, learning takes place naturally.
