This collection includes a variety of resources (journal articles, book chapters, and a SciPack) to help with ideas on how to teach students about states of matter. Because the particulate nature of matter is fundamental to an understanding about how elements and compounds, resources discussing atomic structure are also included. These resources range from elementary through college level; elementary level resources (e.g., Fun with Phase Changes, How Cold is Cold, etc.) focus on macroscale concepts with quite a few hands-on activities, while middle and high school level resources (Minds-On Matter, Structure of Matter, Tech Trek: A Different Phase Change, etc.) bring the focus to how the particulate nature of matter forms the backbone upon which phase changes and different chemical properties arise. Tech Trek, specifically, showcases how using multiple substances to demonstrate phase changes is much more useful than focusing on water as the singular example. The SciPack on Explaining Ma
