Good evening! I am working on a lesson to introduce erosion and I would like to start my lesson with a discrepant event. However, I am having some issue locating one online. Is there a discrepant event for erosion? Any assistance would be appreciated! Thank you!!!
I've had trouble thinking of puzzling phenomena for this topic as well. Instead I went the problem based instruction method and used a locally based question around flooding: What caused the Boulder 2013 flood? What were the impacts of this flood? Kids here are really into that one as it was a lived experience for all of them.
Along with discussing the boulder flooding, did your students do any activities to recreate the flooding or simulate their ideas about possible causes for the event?
I like to know as well of how to teach about flooding
