Students nowadays are more tech savvy. When I utilized the computers to help the students learn more about a particular topic such as Physical Science-Electricity. The students were very engaged and enjoyed the online mini quiz after they read through the website I provided.I used google docs to create a survey to help see if the students understood the vocabulary for the lesson and if they were ready to perform the experiment. What are some ways you used technology to enhance your lessons? Looking for more ideas...

Hi Amy, Technology is used in my classroom whenever possible to replace pencil/pen and paper and whenever learning can be enhanced by utilizing technology. I have students find articles, videos, and websites to enhance their learning. Physical technology I use in my room include Qwizdoms, which are student response systems, TI-83 graphing calculators, projector, document camera, and of course my newest favorite, a Hitachi Interactive Projector that is mounted above my white board that through technology makes the board become an interactive surface. When the projector is not in use, it’s just a plain old white board. As for other technology, there are always the Web 2.0 tools. Throughout the forums, especially in the General Science threads, lots of teachers are sharing how they are using everything from Google doc’s, Edmoto, Wordle, Flickr, Delicious, wikis, blogs … the list is endless. Tammy is an exceptional speaker often appearing at computer conferences across the country sharing wonderful ways to integrate technology painlessly and efficiently within our classrooms. I have used her ideas with success for close to ten years and my students love it. Tammy is also really good at responding to questions and emails you send, so it’s like having your own technogeek in your pocket. . Tammy’s website is http://www.tammyworcester.com/Tips/Tammys_Technology_Tips_for_Teachers.html A website that gives a basic overview of 20 Web 2.0 Tools for Teachers is http://www.freetech4teachers.com/2010/05/20-web-20-tools-for-teachers.html There is a slideshare presentation of the various tools and how they can be used with students. What I appreciate about this site is it gives some tools that are relatively new to many of us. I look forward to hearing how you are finding new technology and integrating it in your classroom.

One thing to keep in mind is that students know how to SOME technology things really well (Facebook and Instagram come to mind), they don't always know how to do some essential program-related skills. How about incorporating some Excel spreadsheets that require formulas? Or Powerpoints into which students must copy and paste a graph from another program, or share slides for a collaborative project? These real-world skills will come in handy for their future coursework and careers.

Amy and Pamela, Those are two great lists of resources for technology integration. I love Cathy Schrock's website! I'm not teaching in the classroom anymore, but am part of a team at Carnegie Mellon University developing free STEM games aimed younger students. We've recently released two games that teach about balance and stability. You can play the games (always for free) and find some additional resources for including the games in your classrooms at http://www.etc.cmu.edu/engage/?page_id=134 I'd love to hear what you think of them—reaching out to teachers is a major goal of the project.

I found this list of best tech tools. Has anyone used You Tube Editor Animate? http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2012/11/my-top-10-web-tools-as-teacher.html?goback=.gde_2811_member_183935786
