IN the future I want to teach middle school. Is teaching science in middle school a lot different than teaching science in elementary?

I have noticed that teaching science to middle school students is not that different from teaching it to elementary school students. Inquiry-based learning is beneficial to students in both of these groups, so the process on how to teach science is very similar. I think that biggest difference is that middle school students need less promting to explore their own ideas during inquiry-based learning. They have had more experience with this type of learning, so they can be successful with a higher level of independence.

Tempia,

I will be finding out next year, exactly how different it will be. I'm moving from upper elementary to 7th and 8th grade science and I can not be more excited!
