Hi,
This year I am planning to have stations for scholars (6th grade)
for our energy unit. What types of hands on activities do you enjoy
using for mechanical, heat, electrical and chemical energy?
Thank you!!

I teach high school chemistry, so I'm not sure how involved you want these activities to be...but there are some great reactions you can do in a ziploc bag which allow students to feel the energy that is emitted or absorbed. I've attached one of the best I've found - the chemicals are all relatively safe household substances. You can also access it online at http://www.middleschoolchemistry.com/lessonplans/chapter6/lesson7

Monica,
The ACS middle school chemistry site that Heather referenced is excellent. Most lessons are set up in a 5E inquiry format. On the homepage there is a link to standards by state should you need these. NSTA has hosted a number of webinars by the ACS on the use of there middle school chemistry resources. I have attached a collection of these webinars.
Here is one more site you may find useful for middle school chemistry http://msp.ehe.osu.edu/wiki/index.php/MSP:MiddleSchoolPortal/Chemistry:_Making_it_Real

Monica,
The NEED website has great resources as well. Many of their materials are meant to be set up as stations. See NEED
