Can anyone please explain to me the function of the Golgi complex in cells?

The Golgi apparatus is part of the membrane mosaic model. It's function is kind of like the UPS store. It packages and ships proteins made in the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum and / or the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. Depending upon the cell, there can be many Golgi or a few. Hope this helps. It looks like flat pancakes in a crescent shape. The pancakes are in flat stacks called cisternae (which is like a cistern that holds water. Fascinating organelle. Hope this helps.
