As a music teacher for many years, I taught several students with special needs. Afer making the decision to work on my M. Ed. in special educaiton, I joined a public school district in Ohio. My elementary students are in grade K-3. All are diagnosed with autism, so we work together in a self-contained classroom, currently virtually. They enjoy Science experiements, singing songs about the 8 planets in our solar system, and are currently planning designs for their kites.

1) No matter the subject establishing a consistent routine is crucial to keep young students focused on school work as much as possible. Plan for every 15 minutes of each school day.
