Hi Emma,
Science wasn't my "thing" until later on in life either. As a teacher, I strive to make science more for my students, than I felt it was for me. Time crunches can make it difficult, but I still have the mind set that science equals time consuming. I had to slow myself down and remember to start small. I recommend starting by integrating science into other subjects....
