Hey, I'm Lindsay! I am majoring in Middle Childhood Math and Science. I just got married in June, and my husband's name is Andrew. I was born and raised in the Dayton area. My husband and I are youth pastors at New Life Church in Springfield. I love my relationship with Jesus Christ, music, diy projects, my plants, and dark chocolate. Something I have always found very interesting is studying acquired vs. inherited traits. When it comes to personality, athletic ability, musical ability, etc., how much is acquired and how much is inherited? This may be a great area to study with your class. Flying through Genetics

Genetics in Action

I have always heard about using flies to study genetics. I love how this article lays out exactly how I can carry that out in my classroom. I like that this activity gives students the chance to really study the affects of genetics first hand (not just from a book). I would love for this to be a part of my classroom in the future.

Great Idea!

I love how this talks about a different way to review genetics, alleles, and genes. So many times, Punnet Squares are the main way that genetics are experimented with. Using the Toothpick Chromosomes, students see genetics in light of what is actually physically happening to cause certain traits to show up in an organism! I love this visual and definitely see using it in my classroom in the future.
