Hello! I am a seventh-grade life science teacher at Bay Springs Middle School in Villa Rica, GA and this is my fifth year teaching middle school. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology (University of West Georgia), a Master's degree in Biology (Georgia State University) and a Master's of Arts in Teaching (University of West Georgia). I was chosen as the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year and was a District Finalist. I received the 2023 Don Cargill STEM Scholar Award for Georgia Educators and I am Nationally STEM Certified. Some of my favorite science topics include ecology, genetics and cell and molecular biology. I live with my husband Jeff, two daughters Sydney (5) and Olivia (2) and our pets Nash (yellow lab) and Bailey (cat). Some of my hobbies outside of teaching include reading thriller novels, hiking outdoors and baking with my daughters.

Engineering mimics nature!

I cannot think of a better way to provide students with real-world, relevant experiences than using real case studies in science. I learned so many new things about engineering in science and I love the presenters' passion as they led this webinar. Engineering mimics nature!

Great Webinar!

I absolutely agree that Covid has showcased and shaped how the public views and understands science and we teachers have been given the opportunity to use these real-world experiences to help us approach these topics. I appreciate the presenters explaining the difference in information that gets passed around (misinformation, malinformation, etc). The speakers were very knowledgeable and informative in this talk and I feel I walked away feeling validated in the way that I teach and my approach.

Very Engaging Webinar

Both of the presenters were very engaging and knowledgeable in their field and it was nice to be informed. I teach climate change in my Life science class but I enjoyed hearing about this from an Earth science/weather point of view. I learned more than I thought I knew about climate change and this talk is very much appreciated.
