I think exposure is really important. You could talk about famous women scientists, or even local women who are doing great things for science. You could also try partnering girls with like minded peers to build their confidence in science activities.

Do you have any suggestions for integrating science and literacy? I would love to hear about favorite science picture books. I was also wondering if anyone had suggestions of nonfiction science books that could be implemented as science activities. How do you suggest making reading of nonfiction texts interesting?
