My NSTA / Peers / Ruth McDonald

I've been a K-12 educator for 39 years in California and Oregon. I taught 5th grade, 7th grade math and science, and high school and elementary school Special Education. In 2007-08, I served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the National Science Foundation. Returning to Lincoln County (Oregon) School District, I was a district-wide STEM resource teacher, coordinating community partnerships with universities, non-profits, businesses, and government agencies. I was also the project director for several U.S. Ed Math Science Partnership grants, a U.S. Ed Innovative Approaches to Literacy grant, and a New Teacher Mentoring Project. Currently, I coordinate STEM professional development and student learning experiences for the Oregon Coast STEM Hub. I have a BA in Psychology from UCLA and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University. I am also a NBCT in Early Adolescent Science.
