    Life Science Collection

In my collection I have resources for teaching the life cycle of a plant for second grade Life Science. I first have a journal article that talks about flexible indoor and outdoor garden lessons that let children explore plant variation, I like this because it gives ways to bring gardens into the classroom. Next I have a video that introduces the life cycle of a plant starting from a seed, this is a great way to get children interested in the plant life cycle. Then I have a lesson in which starts off by reading a story about living and non living things, then students use evidence to connect what is alive and what is not. I really like this lesson because it has a lot of tools to enhance children comprehension such as anticipation guides and picture walks. Last I have a journal article that discusses learning about plants through STEAM activities and how using STEAM to teach the about plants benefited students.

    Earth and Space

In my collection I have resources for teaching the layers of the Earth in third grade Science. I first have a video that introduces the layers of the Earth and why they are important. Next I have a journal article about how you can combine content areas when teaching about the Earth's layers by having children read, write, and draw what they have learned. Then I have a journal article about how you can use cookie dough to teach about the different layers of the Earth. Last I have a lesson where children use play dough to create their own Earth using different colors for each layer.
