How often do most of us pre- assess? We plan our units and teach what we think they need to know on that test. I believe our assessments shoul be based on all types of experiences like it said in the article. Plannning well when we develp our units and using the concept maps to plan the unit around what you want the big idea to be in the end. You must ask yourself what do students need to know to meet that standard before you leave that unit and go on to the next one. I think we do try too hard to guide and control the conversations. I think that we have a problem letting go, because we fear them not getting to the right answer or not learning what they need to learn. Learning, as teachers, to redirect like it says in the article will take some practice, but I think we can do it. I also think that time constraints has a lot to do with how we teach. Feeling rush...
