I think the activity with the video was a great idea. I know that when I was in 8th grade my teacher showed us a rap song about the order of the planets and to this day it has stuck with me. At the same time i am also wondering the same as you. How can i find things to teach about the universe that I feel comfortable answering questions about.

I think this is an amazing tip Lauren. Thank you. I would definitly use it. I tihnk it is a great to incorporate not only science but reading at the same time. So, you would basically be killing two birds with one stone.

Sink or Float, Elem. - Taylor Andollo Collection
Wed, Mar 25, 2020 10:36 AM
Very good resource!
This is a great resource to have when you would like to make a lesson on density using the floating and sinking method. Each resource comes with different 5E lesson plans you can do on floating and sinking. Especially the last resource titled "Will it float?" comes with safety concerns along with assessments and things you can use to test the students on what they learned. There is also a resource titled "The Poetry of Science: Sinking and Floating" that can be used not only for science but also for a fun reading lesson. I also liked how Taylor included the "Beyond Predictions" article that gives you a lesson that can help you teach the students to look past just the weight of an object to determine if it will sink or float. It helps students think about things like density instead. I also like how in that first article "Beyond Predictions" it goes into how and why students have that misconception of using weight than anything else to determine if an object will sink or float and how to go past it.
