Why Do Athletes Drink Sports Drinks?
Wed, Feb 05, 2014 2:42 PM Sports Drinks are Effective
When reading the article, "Why Do Athletes Drink Sports Drink", I could not help myself but to be amaze on how effective sports drink really are. As an athlete, I never fully understood why something such as Gatorade would be more beneficial to have in my body rather than drinking just water after a long practice or competition. I never really knew what osmosis could do for my body until now. However, it was something like common sense to me that sugar such as Gatorade would spark me to have energy, but in reality, it is the liquid substance forcing the cell to stay within the water inside of my body. By having something to keep the cell and water from sweating out of my body, it is almost allowing my body to cool down and a faster rate. The testing of the egg was really useful and I'm glad to have a better understanding of sport science.
