Jessica Paez's review- Helpful collection
I found this article incredibly interesting but more importantly useful. In order to create a change, one which we as a society desperately need, people need to become educated. Through education, great and much needed change can and will occur. We as a society, have to work on preserving our environment and this should begin being taught at an early age in the classroom to begin a long lasting and effective change.
I found this collection helpful because it included articles which serve as an example on how to incorporate the essential three R’s ( Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in the classroom. It is easy to detect the steps needed to make a change but it becomes more of a challenge when incorporating it into an elementary or high school curriculum in a way which is easily understood by the students. This collection included articles such as “ Conservation Presentation: Students teach the value of recycling through a series of demonstrations,” and “ Teaching Through Trade Books: Teaching the Three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.” These articles amongst the other three located in the collection provides an insight on how the three R’s can be taught in the classroom and what steps can be taken to incorporate students in the lesson.
Not only does this collection have articles which help with instruction but that also explains the precautions and steps that can be taken to reinforce the three R’s. Two of the five articles and inspired by children’ literature and can serve as great guides in making the three R’s relatable to younger children as well. This collection is a great tool which can be used in and outside of the classroom.
