A good science lesson for children that is hands on is planting in a garden or in the classroom. Students can chart the growth throughout a few weeks.

Safety is always number one with kids. Some rules that they need to follow are listening, not touching the materials unless told to do so, keep hair up, close toed shoes, and clean properly when finished.
