I thought this was a nicely planned and thorough resource that was packed with tons of information. I found the experiments to be very fun as well as engaging. I liked how many of these experiments can be easily recreated at home to further test and learn about the process. The photosynthesis song seemed to be a nice addition as it has educational lyrics that can help address the auditory learners in the classroom. All these experiments allowed for these students to literally see what changes occurred (or did not) so they definitely helped in proving the point of the lesson.

Teaching children in the early elementary years involves engaging children in a number of ways. This unit about plants includes interdisciplinary approaches as well as art and music. The unit also engages the basic steps of scientific practices. Students grow seeds to make observations. There are so many different parts of this unit that engage multiple aspects of a young child’s experiences that it would be a hit with any classroom environment.
