In the world of technology things change very rapidly. This article was written in 2011 but it is still a great list of ways to assess student’s use of technology. Basically the article provides in a very simple chart ‘Websites and programs used for student assessment’. All of the websites are free (another bonus), useful for middle school students, and reviewed for security, special characteristics/notes, examples, assessment, samples, and rubric. The article groups them by podcasts, blogs, and more. This is a good way for a teacher to begin to immerse students into technology.

A chart of tools with URLs, security and registration features is included. One area not mentioned is what tools, i.e. You Tube, might be blocked by your school's network filters.
