This article describes how a unit about aquatic systems was used to strengthen students’ ability to pose questions and gener¬ate evidence. Students learned the difference between good and bad questions. They learned which ones lead to further exploration and therefore good inquiry. Through observations students learned that questions can lead to more questions while making observations in the field. This is an interesting approach to developing good inquiry skills for middle school children.
