Dipity allows students an opportunity to create an online timeline where they link materials they find on a variety of internet sources into a history for the topic of research. It appears to be easy to use, it provides a variety of views for the information, and can be interactive, depending on the privacy settings, such that students in different places can contribute information to the timeline. I did not see a way to show bands of information for personal timelines, which is useful when trying to see how scientists may have interacted. I would recommend this for middle through undergraduate teachers to consider for class assignments.

Dipity is a Web 2.0 website is a free database that allows users to create, manage and share timelines with others. This article explains how to use it as well as how students use this website to create a timeline and fulfilling the standards for interdisciplinary approach to the history of science. This is a neat interdisciplinary tool.
