The activities described in this article are designed to be done by a child in their home. One activity describes how to measure the amount of water loss by a leaky faucet. There is a tally sheet to determine how water is used in the home at various locations for a specific period of time. The activity extends to knowledge of water cost and water suppliers as well. Along with the information gathering there is a need to apply everyday math as well which makes this a good interdisciplinary activity for a child and the family as well.
