Athletes know the difference between winning and losing can be a matter of seconds. A sports biomechanist can help athletes train smarter as well as develop equipment to help them accomplish that task. Bill Sands is the head of the Sports Biomechanist and Engineering for the US Olympic Training Center. He is responsible for the service and research for 45 different sports. Reading about his job one quickly learns that as a former gymnast he has been lucky to combine an interest with a challenging career.
