As you read through this article you note that a mechanical engineer has a very broad scope to deal with as a career choice. Some of what they do is open-ended and becomes part of other projects that other engineers are working on. If you like to build things and to solve other people’s problems and you like math and science classes this career might a good fit for that student. This is a good article to present to students.
