The firefighter/paramedic interviewed in this article wanted an opportunity to apply science knowledge in a way that provided a community service. She states the more you know, the better you can deal with unexpected problems (just like in life, generally). This article is written in a way that it could be used in any classroom intermediate on up and addresses a career field many of our students may be curious about.
