This article from ‘Scope on Safety’ a middle school publication, advocates for proper safety practices when dealing with health issues and hands in hands-on science activities. As the article states: “Research findings strongly suggest a high correlation between the use of hands and the spreading of infection.” This article identifies nine steps in the hand washing hand and hand care protocol. After reading this article I am aware that there is much more to hand washing than I originally thought. This article is thorough. There are at least nine key points about hand washing explained in this article plus a great suggested resource to read as well. This should be a must read for all science teachers.
