Capacity and volume are difficult concepts especially for younger children. This activity allows students to understand capacity (amount of available volume) of different containers. The activity also addresses a math skill called estimation. Since this activity was designed for young children they determine capacity by comparison and then use that skill to predict a different situation. The activity respects a good combination of both math and science skills. The adaptation for other students is also good.
