This article was written by a preservice teacher. I was one a very long time ago. This author advocates for letting students know why they are participating in a laboratory activity. She also advocates for designing the assessment before determining the lesson so that you know what you expect your students to learn. These processes rely heavily on reflection. She points out that if a lesson no longer holds the purpose it was originally picked for, then it is the obligation of the educator to modify it or replace it. She has great insights.
