As a methods student teaching their first lesson plan, this book was a great resource to prepare me with knowledge I needed to teach a lesson as well as content to be used in my lesson to teach my students. It went into depth about magnetism and magnetic forces which was my lesson topic and allowed me to create a deeper understanding of this topic. The interactive ebook contained check ins for each chapter that all helped me score well on the final quiz at the end of the book. Overall, it was a very book that contained easy to read language that covered a variety of scientific topics.

I am a univeristy students and I am currently my methods courses. For my science course I needed to create a lesson plan and my was focused on light. To help me better understand light and prepare for my lesson I read this interactive E-book. This E-book was easy to read and I was able to understand the material.

I have been using this E-book to prepare myself for teaching a middle school unit on electricity & magnetism -- something I haven't studied since I was in high school! This book provides a great overview of the subject and also includes a lot of interesting history and facts that I've been incorporating into my notes and labs to add interest. I've also been getting some great ideas for simple experiments and labs to conduct with my class.

I have always LOVED magnets and electric circuits, but it had definitely been a while since I had done deep dive on either concept. I am pre-service teacher completing my methods courses and had to select an E-book to complete. Since I already enjoyed magnets and electricity, this was an easy choice for my book. I really enjoyed all of the interactive demonstrations and the Check-Your-Understanding aspects. This book was easy to follow and gave great tips on teaching this concept to students. Overall, I think this is a great resource and an incredible way to freshen up your knowledge before starting a magnet or electricity unit! I will say, some of the content seemed to be at a bit of a higher level than I would teach, but I also understand that this book is written FOR teachers, NOT students. As a teacher, you need to understand the higher levels so that curious students can have their questions answered!

I started this book knowing nothing about magnets or electricity besides that opposite poles attract. Now, I feel comfortable enough with my understanding that I would feel comfortable guiding students through investigations in the OpenSciEd eighth grade unit on "forces at a distance". Conceptualizing unseen forces such as electromagnetic fields can be difficult, especially for students. Seeing and interacting with the simulations and models in this book gave me an eye for how to represent these invisible forces to potential students and the short quizzes gave me a good idea of how to break up so much information into digestible parcels. Many of the examples they give to "try at home" such as the balloon/confetti experiment are cheap, easily accessible, and represent the phenomena in a relatable way.
