Hi Cailtin,
I found your post very interesting as this aspect of distance learning has not been something that I was aware of, but I think it would be an excellent tool. I actually can relate to this concept of video calling an animal because I am away at college and sometimes my mom put my dog on facetime. I think that this would be great because it would help out those that are employe...

Hi Khadejia,
We're in the same class through FIU, and I also think there are advantages and disadvantages to distance learning. I think that through this difficult time in everyone's life it gives us the comfort and safety to learn from our homes, but it also comes with many problems. Technology is not everyone's strong suit and I have felt that for many of my classes I am not reci...

My Review of Eliska's Collection
I enjoyed the material posted in Eliska's collection. My lesson plan and collection were also involving butterflies, so I found many of the resources helpful to me. I like how there were different types of resources such as books and articles. The first resource was focused on the migration of insects. The second resource connected the classroom to the outdoors and provided activities to use in the classroom. The third was about the relationship of butterflies and plants. The fourth resource was beneficial for the upper elementary levels, 4th-6th grade. The fifth provided information that the students can use at their school, or even at home to create a butterfly garden. I thought that was a fun hands-on activity that could be done as a class or even inspire students to bring this information to their own homes. The sixth article was an example of a stem project that can be done also in an upper-elementary class. It incorporated engineering into designing butterfly wings. The seventh article was especially useful for me because my lesson plan deals with teaching the life cycle of butterflies to second grade students, and that is the focus of this article. The eighth article, I think would be useful for an elementary class, because it involves the teaching of nature of science skills such as observation and inferences within the unit of butterflies. The last resource is for lower elementary classes, such as kindergarten. I think there was a lot of great information within this collection that will benefit the various levels and grades of science instruction in elementary school.
