Hello, A great science website I have heard of is "mystery science"! This website has a ton of resources ranging from 5 minute mini lessons to full instructional units. It is also all online so there is less to prep and it will also help integrate technology. This website is also aligned to the NGSS.

Hello, A great hands-on activity that I have seen is modeling erosion and weathering using skittles! You take the skittles and put them in a bowl with water and students can then record observations over time. Students can make predictions and see how the skittles weather in the water over time. The skittles are a great model for rocks, and its great to do in small groups.

Hello, Yes I have also noticed this! I have also seen to integrate this into ELA. During ELA "time", you could have the students reading and writing about science. That way you can get more science instruction in and at the same time you will also be teaching literacy.

great connections!

I thought this idea was a great way for everyone involved to connect somehow to learning and science. The preservice teachers were able to get great experience, and the students were able to get a meaningful science experience. While i'm sure a ton of planning goes into this, it looks worth it in the end.

Importance of Safety

this article brings to light how important it is to be safe during lessons. These Elementary students were using potentially dangerous tools. This showed me that with being careful and addressing all safety concerns, STEM activities can work! Especially because STEM activities like this are so much fun for students

shows failure in a new light!

I really like the perspective of this article. Usually people think of failure as such a bad thing, but this article lets us know that it can actually be a great learning experience to grow and get great feedback!
