My NSTA / Peers / Donna Governor

Donna Governor is an Associate Professor for science education at the University of North Georgia (UNG). She has authored two NSTA Press books, Big Data, Small Devices: Investigating the Natural World Using Real-Time Data in 2016 and Staging Family Science Nights in 2019. Prior to moving to UNG to teach preservice teachers in 2016, she taught grades K-12 for 32 years in public schools, both in Florida and Georgia. She is a past president of the Georgia Science Teachers Association and has served on the Board of Directors for the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) as the Preservice Division Director (2020-2023). She is the Georgia 2007 Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science Education, the 2014 Georgia Outstanding Earth Science Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the UGA Distinguished Alumni Award. Donna holds degrees in Curriculum & Instruction (1999), Elem and Early Childhood Ed (1982, 1988) from the Univ. of West Florida and a PhD in Science Ed from UGA.
