It will really depend on your student and what their struggles are. I teach in a school for students that have mild to moderate learning issues. Things we do on science include lots of visuals. Anytime you can give them a visual of something it helps. Hands on. Not just labs but manipulatives, models etc. give them plenty of room to write especially if you are taking notes. If done properly with instruction on how to work in a group it is more effective according to studies. However, you need to build in time to teach students how to work together, listen to each other, give them jobs and explain how those jobs work. Sitting them in groups to complete a worksheet is going to turn into copy everyone's answers. If accountability is built it it is very effective....
