Good luck on the lesson plan !
With the water cycle I did a really cool demonstration for the students during the engage stage. I had each student mock the water cycle from a plastic bag that hung on the window. The students drew a cloud on the upper right hand corner and a sun on the left hand corner. The sun from the window made tiny water droplets on the bag where they were able to physically...

I use to work at a a toy store that sold learning based toys. One thing I always saw fly off the shelves was a stem based toy called Goldie Blox. The States of Matter Collection Review
This collection is a great collection to use for teaching students about the different states of matter. The first article in the collection is an editor’s note about the common miss-conceptions about chemistry and stages of matter. The next article is a model that the teacher could use to show the changes of matter. It incorporates popcorn which all children love. I really like how they gave you an activity to help you in the Engage phase of your lesson plan. There is also another article about what causes the various stages to change. It’s a good article to read because they teacher would get great back round knowledge about how the three stages work. This collection gives lesson plans and ideas for all grades. It covers early childhood and the elementary ages. The lesson plans also have adaptions which I really like so you can change it for a harder grade level. The collection also gives some books for students to read about the three stages of matter. I really like that they gave you extra reading materials for the students for a better understanding. I gave the review 4 stars because it has great resources for teachers to use. Also, it incorporates other subjects like language arts. I think they could of gave a little more material on how to break it down or scaffold for the children who are having a tough time understanding material.
