I really like the way these lessons mix reading interesting books with science activities to motivate student learning. While I am not sure "Cloudy with Meatballs" is scientifically accurate, it does get students interested and asking questions about possibilities (can that really happen?). Ending with students keeping data and making predictions, this is a wonderful outline of a unit on weather that fits standards!

I love when I find lessons/activites that are already in the 5E format and that emphasize classroom science process skills. This has the added bonus of incorporating literature as well! It is a six-week unit, where students also keep a journal (writing) and includes internet resources.

I like this lesson because it has students be weather watchers which to me this would be a fun activity for a first grade class. I like how the lesson plan is already aligned to standards between the grades of K-3. This also includes for students to learn about the different forms of clouds which would help them to understand for the weather.
