My 6th graders really enjoyed getting to read a story book (which is also nice for ELL students). In addition, they could use this to make a connection to the material, and in what better way than with food. We did this as a supplement to class activities, but will definitely reevaluate to include more concepts and in-class time.

I was interested by the idea of teaching chemical change to elementary students. It is based on using a book. I liked the activities and the write up, but know that this is written for the upper elementary student eventhough I think the material is more for the middle school student.
