This commentary is very interesting to me. Twenty years ago I was a DOE Track teacher. This meant that I had the opportunity to work with scientist doing real science for eight weeks in the summer. It was quite an experience. This commentary talks about a newer program called Laboratory Science Teacher Professional De¬velopment (LSTPD) program. The program’s objective is to help teachers become ambassadors for the science com¬munity to students and their parents, agents for positive change in science education, and the inspiration for the next generation of scientists, engineers, technicians, and mathematicians that support scientific research for the DOE and the United States. This commentary makes teachers aware that real scientists are reaching out to science teachers.
