My name is Elizabeth Alarcon and I am a Junior at FIU. I am a Early Childhood major and I should be doing my internship next spring of 2017. When I finish I am planning to get my SLP certificate and go into the Speech Pathology Master's Program. I am a nanny and a tutor and I love it. I love working with students and helping them achieve their goals. For me, nothing beats the smile of a student when they finally understand a concept. One of my hobbies is traveling. I love to travel and explore new places. Last year I went to Chicago and this year I am going to Washington, D.C, Chicago, and possibly Ecuador.

The first I think would be a great idea is having groups of no more than 4. The next is making sure all materials are ready and in designated areas. Make sure youre always walking around and checking on things and asking questions to students. Students may get a little out of hand but when there is an activity going on, they are enjoying it and learning at the same time. Dont worry too much about ...

I have actually been part of learning about art and science recently in my classes. One great idea was learning about the different parts of a flower but starting to draw it form inside out rather than outside to in. The students draw for inside out because it allows students to concentrate on the little parts and their functions rather. Another idea is having students go on a nature walk and afte...

I love the idea of students having a science journal. This can start at a young age with simple ideas, such as writing a title and drawing what happened in an activity. As students grow, they journal can become more specific. The students can separate their journals into notes, activities, and questions. I think it is important for students to write questions they have down and teachers can see th...

Organisms and Habitats Collection
Wed, Apr 20, 2016 9:36 AM Great Topic
I love that you focused this collection on Nature and different activities that can be done. I think there is so much you can do with this just like the nature walk we did in class and collecting different things. My favorite article was the Nature Transects because it gave a lot of activity ideas and they don't all have to be done at once. Every week there can be a focus on one aspect.
The Early Years: Blowing Bubbles
Thu, Apr 14, 2016 7:55 PM Fun Activity
I love this activity to do with my future students!! Who doesn't love bubbles! I think students would have so much fun with this and they can learn from it as well. We as teachers love to find fun creative activities that students will remember and enjoy. This is definitely one!!
A Guide to Teaching Earth and Space Science Collection
Thu, Apr 14, 2016 7:47 PM Interesting Collection
I love this collection because it focuses on the sky and what is in the solar system. We never talked about this in class but this is a big area to teach in the elementary level. I love how you included a science guide because it has a lot of different topics in it and for different grades. I also enjoyed the science object, Earth Sun, and Moon: General Characteristics of Earth. I thought it was a interactive learning experience not just for us teachers but for students to do and learn from as well!
