As a student teacher who will be going into the classroom next semester, I have never given much thought to seating charts--so this is all really helpful! For some of the more experienced teachers: how do you handle classroom management and flexible seating? I know establishing routines and procedures is a must.

Teaching Through Trade Books: Habitable Homes

Merging Language Arts and Science

I am using this article as a resource for a 10-day unit on animals and habitats I am planning as a pre-service teacher. I love the idea of using trade books in science because it allows students to apply language arts skills in a new context. This resource also gave detailed explanations that would help a teacher guide students through the beginning, middle, and end of a lesson--which is helpful for new teachers! I look forward to using elements of this resource in my lesson.

Helpful Resource

I am using this resource to plan a 10-day science unit as a pre-service teacher about animal habitats. As one of the activities, I will have students explore their school environment and make observations about what they see; this lesson would be an excellent way to pre-teach pollution concepts and to make students aware of what they should be looking for when they go outside. Additionally, this lesson ties in animal impact, not just environmental impact. Overall, I think this is a great resource to use for planning.
