Plants and Animals: Life Cycles Collection

After browsing through this collection, I believe that there is a variety of resources available on the subject. The collection is titled "Plants and Animals: Life Cycles" and the information provided covers exactly that. I like how the collection includes different sources such as a book chapter, journal article, and scipack. This provides a variety of resources for teachers and students to refer to when teaching or learning about life cycles. I also liked how the collection had sources on the life cycle of animals as well as the life cycle of plants and it was grade appropriate. Overall, it is a well developed and helpful collection on life cycles.

ELLs Learning Science Collection

Importance of ELL prep in Science

I really enjoyed the resources in this collection because they provide very helpful hints and strategies that facilitate the teaching experience for educators teaching science to ELL students. Science is very fun but specific and tidy at the same time. Therefore, it requires much instruction and that can sometimes be difficult to provide for ELL students. Many teachers do not receive the proper training to teach ELL students, therefore, this collection provides many articles that will help teachers prepare for teaching ELL students. It also describes strategies that teachers can implement in the classroom to cater to the needs of all ELL students. One good strategy that I came across was pairing ELL students with bilingual/ native English speakers so that the English speaker can translate and also so that the ELL student doesn't feel embarrassed to ask so many questions to the teacher. Students tend to feel more comfortable asking things to their peers than to the teacher so pairing students together as such is a good strategy especially during an inquiry science lesson. Overall, this collection is very helpful for science teachers working with ELL students! I highly recommend it
